Good luck convincing anyone to spend on microtransactions when they're not only paying for internet, but also likely the console internet service, as well as likely multiple different publisher streaming services.

People pretty much already do that. And there's always the people who have money to blow on MTs, people who don't have money to blow on MTs, but do it anyway, and kids whose parents spend money on them to get the kids to shut up.

Look at how much money GTA Online brings in. You think R* and Take Two, who have admitted that they loooove MTs and plan to put more of them in their games, are going to stop that cash cow? Same for any other company.

I have the Microsoft Game Pass (or whatever they call it) and I think it's okay. I like the ability to download the games as opposed to streaming them.

If Microsoft or Sony or Nintendo came to me and said hey, on your Xbox, or PS4, or Switch, for 25 bucks a month you can play every game that's come out on it.... I would pay in a heartbeat.

In this day and age of 9/10ths complete cames being somewhat common at launch, the amount of games that come out, me getting older and not having as much time to pay attention to every new release and news article.... I would totally welcome this.

Nah, more like a Taxi meter where you plug in your CC and it just has a rolling charge as you play.

Funnily enough, that's actually how the XBand worked on the SNES and Genesis. If you wanted to play online, you inserted a credit card (or it might have been a phone card, I can't remember) into the XBand modem itself and it continuously charged the card while you were playing onilne.

If this is the Great Depression in terms of company treatment of gamers, than what you're describing is the black plague.

Internet speeds in the best areas have trouble with streaming gameplay, not even getting into how the majority of the US can't handle it.

This will pretty much make mobile gaming the standard and kill the AAA industry IMO

Hell yeah, streaming gaming will be amazing! It's likely you'll find a game out of the many that you really like and love to play it every day until you wake up one fantastic morning to learn it's gone forever because it wasn't profitable for the publisher!

Not true. USA is spread out very thin across tons of land. Korea is like 80% of the people live in Seoul and the rest of the country is smaller than a lot of our states.

If the US can wire someone electricity, they can wire them modern internet. Telecom bending politicians over backwards gets in the way though.

If this were not internet, but electricity, I'm guessing many parts of the USA would endure frequent brown-outs, whereas considerably poorer nations, such as Latvia and Romania, would have guaranteed 24/7 electricity nationwide.
