It suspends for a year a law that requires parents to provide proof of 10 routine vaccinations when enrolling their children in nurseries or preschools.

The law had originally been introduced by the Democratic Party in July 2017 amid an ongoing outbreak of measles that saw 5,004 cases reported in 2017 -- the second-highest figure in Europe after Romania -- according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Italy accounted for 34% of all measles cases reported by countries in the European Economic Area, the center said.

Jesus Christ, this is why I have no hope for our species. Vaccines are the best type of preventative care for these diseases, they reduce medical costs to payers and keep doctors from being tied up wasting their time treating shit "we've beaten".

Oh please. It's a 109 acre city with the popular of 1000 inside of Italy with a 2 mile (circumference) border.
It exists solely at Italy's leisure. It's a novelty. What happens when Italy turns their electricity, water, and sewer off, and closes "the border"? lol.

It's a sovereign country because the world is willing to play make believe. In that sense, it is, I can't do anything about it, but I don't respect it, and absolutely it fits entirely within the context of Italy hosting them.

It's sticking in my craw because it's inaccurate.

The Vatican doesn't exist at Italy's pleasure. It may have a nonexistent army, and limited wealth, but that doesn't mean the Vatican isn't powerful enough to secure it's sovereignty. It's soft power is immense.

The fact that it is a sovereign and resisted efforts by Italy to essentially vassalize the Pope proves the point.

Anti-vaxxers are some of the stupidest people on the planet. I work with a guy who is like that. He claims vaccines cause autism, ADHD, etc and just about everything causes cancer yet smokes a pack of Marlboro's per day. The guy is the stupidest yet one of the most highly educated guys I know (has an MBA and thinks he is smarter than everyone because of it).
