It's at a foundry. I don't think I've worked in a hotter environment. The only place I can think of that might possibly be hotter is the sun. They will close down if the temp gets too out of control. Already burnt my face pretty good. Not recommended unless you really need the money.

I'm still working at the bar, too. So I basically don't have a day off anymore. Which is great for saving money (due to earning more money, not due to lack of free time). I'm only spending the tips I make at the bar on things I don't need, like games and pubs/restaurants. What's crazy is the foundry pays only $5.35 more per hour than the bar, and the work is many times harder and dirtier. The raises can't come soon enough.

Congratulations on your new job.
I'm sorry it's so hot there.
Drink lots of water and wear sunblock.

Been a murder, over in Riften. Some old lady who runs an orphanage. Those poor children must be heartbroken.

5.35 an hour more is a decent chunk of cash.
One of the best parts of my job is that there is overtime literally at all times and it pays about 40 dollars an hour for those shifts.
You can actually make all the money.

How hard is it to get into corrections? Considered it a while back. I'm a veteran so I think that gives me a leg up (maybe not). I like my job now but they may be changing my hours and that would prompt me to look elsewhere.

Nowhere I can work pays overtime in this province. I didn't come back by choice, but I'm trying to make the best of it. I used to make $25 in Alberta, which is $37.50 after eight hours every week day, and straight OT on weekends. That'd be nice again!

I got in easily, but I'm a golden boy on paper. I am a vet, I have a bachelors, I was already a certified first responder, and I'm 6'8" 230 pounds. It also depends on the area being "just" a corrections officer is different than being a Deputy Sheriff. I have arresting powers and I can and do drive around in a cruiser.
They talk like you have to know a guy to get a job, and a lot of people that went through the academy with me knew people or took classes with the Special Sheriff before starting.
Being a vet helps A LOT though.

6'8" 230# holy shit

I'm 6'3 240 but I've packed on about 20 pounds of fat since I had kids. Not in horrible shape but I could definitely stand to tighten up. I lose weight/gain muscle pretty easily, just have to commit to doing it.

I do know a guy at the prison near me, but he's on the wrong side of the bars to be helping me get a job lol

No.

We do here. I don't trust those things or I might take a job like that. The pay in Vancouver averages $85,000 to start, I read.

Everything but the boots with Metguard. Including the fire jacket that adds an extra 5-10 to the temperature (looks like something Eddie Murphy would wear in the eighties). As does your respirator and visor when it's down. But at least you won't get burnt (as often). I forgot to put my visor down when I was blowing slag off the ladle, and decided to look inside of it. I'm surprised I didn't get any blistering let alone have my skin slide right off.

Unhooking the ladles is the worst because you have to climb up right beside them and stick your hand about three feet over what is about 2500 F of molten metal.
