Shave it every few months. I only mind it when it is excessive. I will just shave it all off and let it grow for a few months before continuing the cycle.

To those who don't groom their arm pits because of fear of razor burn: just use a beard trimmer/shaver.

I shave my armpits because my body odour can be awful. By shaving under there, I can negate the worst of it.

I never "shave" anything, other than my face. Trim is the most I will do for body hair. Shaving is just too much upkeep, and if you don't do upkeep, the itch is unreal. Also, it's just too childlike for my taste. To add to that, it's just not that damn important to think about.
