For those who aren't aware... Because it's been a while. About 3.5 years ago my brother just up and vanished. Left a note saying he was leaving and that was it. We tracked him to a city 8 hours away, but I convinced my family to leave it at that.

My mom got in touch with him and went for dinner over the weekend while she was in town. She says he seems to be doing alright, but she sent me a picture, and I think she's being purposefully oblivious to the obvious drug signs, even if they are actually from the past and he's clean now.

Anyways, I have zero intention of ever talking to him unless I'm forced to. He chose his path.

So if he was to prove he was clean and asked forgiveness, you wouldn't?

I do remember the story and he wasn't very brotherly, but sometimes, people that do bad can become people that do good things.

Nope. His decision was very selfish and put a significant strain on the family that can never be fully repaired. The situation could have been handled so much better.

If he wanted to reintegrate with the family, I wouldn't oppose it as it would make the rest of my family happy, but I would not treat him like any other member of the family.
