A week ago, our daughter accidentally cracked the screen on my wife's android tablet. Looking to replace it.

The Amazon Kindle Fire tablets look affordable. Anyone have any experience with them?

I know they aren't full fledged android tablets, so no Google Play store, but is the Amazon alternative worth a damn?

The fire 8 is good for a budget tablet. Interestingly enough, I just got one in the mail yesterday (my parents grabbed a few during the prime day sale to give out as gifts). Bunch of preloaded junk on it, but easy enough to de-clutter, and getting the google play store is super simple too. Big improvement over the android I used to use (which was 5 or 6 years old).

I see. I was just trying to find something decent at an affordable price. I think my wife mainly used her tablet for taking her online class material during breaks at work and entertaining the kids in her car.

Doesn't need anything top of the line for that.

Might be worth looking into getting the screen repaired, might be cheaper than getting a replacement, if the tablet was still doing a good job. Unless you were already thinking of getting a new better one before it happened.

PONG WAS REAL? I thought that was just a story parents told kids to scare them

Probably the best value tablets out there. Decent hardware for dirt cheap. I have the HD10, use it for web surfing, video streaming (Prime, Netflix), and comic reading, and haven't had any issues.

Do the numbers 7, 8, and 10 just refer to the size of the screens?
