Genuine question. One of my old band friends is now subscribed to this group and everything I've looked up seems to point to them being a white supremacist group, or at least very close. Claiming whites are responsible for all(keyword) of the advances in western culture, America should be a white nation, etc. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt because he was a good guy but eh. He got red pilled hard.

Also it's a pretty dumb name.

This is just what I've looked up though, admittedly from left wing media. I can't find centrist information on the group though. I just don't want to write this dude off as a born again white supremacist because he was liberal as shit back in 2012 and even supported Obama pretty hardcore.

My only point is to clarify what the group is. The Wikipedia page doesn't really say much other than it's far right. I'd rather hear from people who know anyone who's a Proud Boy or people who are Proud Boys.

It says they're a chauvinist group unapologetically proud of western male achievement who got their name from a show tune introduced in the 2011 stage-show version of Disney's Aladdin. It doesn't mention what you're hoping for, is that the problem?

But yeah, pretty sure they're white supremacist. Maybe not to the point of actually hurting people (I know they get in fights at rallies, but I'm talking about random people they see) like other groups, but they aren't exactly what I'd call civil.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that most of the people who sign onto this BS are for the same reason people will sign on to antifa or whatever - they'll say "the world's against you! but if you join us, it'll be less against you!"
