It's at minimum 10,000 years apart from any other entries, and it's likely even more thousands of years apart then that considering the insane technology present. So it sort of makes sense that any timeline could get to that point, maybe even a literal merger somehow with goddess intervention.

Aonuma IS the zelda series. It's been his series since Ocarina of Time

Reminder that Ocarina of Time was basically supposed to be a soft reboot of the series (as was Super Mario 64 and Star Fox 64) but then fans had to keep asking about a timeline instead of just accepting that LoZ-LttP should be separate.

This is basically them doing that again unless they decide NOT to have future titles take place after BotW.

They should just re-release every Zelda game with revised scripts to reflect a single timeline. Whether that means there are still multiple timelines or not doesn't matter. Just make it concrete and stop dicking around with it after the fact.

The timeline has always been pointless. The devs openly admitted they don't even worry about timeline placement until after the story has already been finished.

A "merged" timeline doesn't make any sense, unless they just go full meta and all the previous games, canon to a timeline or not, are *treated* as canon in-universe because, you know, they're the legend of Zelda. lol.

Plus the twilight mirror shards you find have another problem. In Twilight Princess, at the end, the mirror is completely and utterly shattered into dust. The chunks resmble more what it looked like after Zant broke it. Midna destroyed it so thoroughly there was nothing but dust left.

The Rito previously only existed in the Adult timeline as well.

There's a bunch of things that reference the downfall timeline as well. You can even visit the Link's Awakening island.
