Wow so no matter what, if they are already using that name, they can't be taken to court? That's huge news to me.

They could always be taken to court but would win. That said, it wouldn't apply here unless the Hawaiian Aloha Poke people bought their business from someone else. (Here I'm referring to the specific company called Aloha Poke. I couldn't find any other companies in Hawaii using similar names or articles referencing any other Hawaiian companies being served notice.)

Oh ok, I guess you're an expert on Hawaiian culture and not just some guy talking out his ass about something he's completely ignorant of. Lol hell you don't even acknowledge that Aloha is a word in the Hawaiian language. Again, your argument has already been refuted, go read those posts if you're not satisfied.

Are you arguing I'd have no problem with this if the guy was black or Chinese or anything other than a non Hawaiian white guy? Well I guess there's no way to convince you otherwise so you can just have that opinion if you wish. I obviously don't care what you think, so you can be as wrong as you desire.

Wait so the Chicago based Aloha Poke co. could take a company called let's say Lei's Aloha Poke to court, but Lei's would win if they had their name before the trademark was claimed?

"Hello" is a word in the English language with the same meaning. And like I said there are companies that use "Hello Tokyo" or "Hello Sushi". Is that appropriation for claiming the rights to that? Tokyo is a Japanese city. Sushi is a japanese food. But the name of the business is theirs. That's what the difference is.

That's fucking stupid. You guys should file a class action lawsuit against the company.

I really don't see what grounds there could possibly be for all Hawaiians to file a class action lawsuit.

See you're comparing the word hello to the word Aloha. Its your ignorance of Hawaiian culture and the word "Aloha"'s place in that culture that is causing you to not understand this issue. Aloha is a whole lot more than just the word hello, but there's no way for you to know that so I don't blame you for thinking that way. But what you don't have an excuse for is thinking that you are even able to comment on something you're completely ignorant of.

If you don't actually have an understanding of the main parts of a debate, why would you think you're able to tell people what is or isn't right? I mean you must be aware of how little you know about Hawaiian culture correct? So knowing how little you know of Hawaiian culture, what makes you think you're able to not only comment on, but debate this topic at all? It'd be different if you came in here just asking questions, but you came in here making declarations and asserting that anyone who disagrees with you is wrong. You don't seem to be trolling, tho I could be wrong about that, so what makes you think you know better than people who are more knowledgeable on the topic than you are? What insight or special knowledge do you have (or think you have) that makes you qualified to determine who's right and who's wrong here?

Me neither, I don't think there is. And really I don't think this should be against the law, as much as I disagree with what he's done, turning to legislation usually leads to more problems than solutions if you don't stop and think about it and take things slowly.

You ignored my whole post except for one fragment then wrote an essay (which didnt explain the importance of what you said is so important) tearing down that fragment. All you basically said was a long winded way of saying "but you dont understand!" So then make me understand, otherwise you look like a whining child.

No, Its not my responsibility to teach you about Hawaiian culture. All I have to do is point out that you're too ignorant on the topic to be making the statements that you're making. Especially if you're gonna be immature and throw out baseless insults like that, why would I take the time and do you the favor of teaching you something? I've already wasted tons of time explaining why all of your posts are wrong, and you have taken the stance of blaming the Hawaiian people and basically saying "cry more". So no, you don't deserve the favor you're asking for because you're acting like a petulant child.

And there's no reason to respond to the rest of your post when the basis of it has been refuted.

So you feel I'm uneducated and immature in a certain way, but say I'm not qualified to be educated that way. But I'm the one throwing insults here? Like dude, you're getting so bent out of shape here it's almost embarrassing. I'm not even trying to be confrontational yet you come at me like this as if I am lol. You keep telling me this thing is so important and at the same time refuse to tell me why it's different. Its fucking language man. It's a sound you make with your mouth. It's a symbol you draw with your hand. And a combination of these things makes a name, and that's the name of this guy's business.

Theres no reason to always be on the defense. I want to have an actual discussion. I dont mean to be inflammatory yet you say I am? I'm not trying to be. I don't see how I was either, sorry if that was your perception.

You want to have an actual discussion, so you demand that I teach you about Hawaiian culture after all of the disrespect you've shown ITT and calling me a whining child? You're not being confrontational despite doing all that shit? Who raised you to think that's how you're supposed to act?

Teaching you about Hawaiian culture would be a favor I'd do for you. Is this how you ask for favors? I have 0 obligation to do anything for you but you're acting as if I owe it to you which makes you seem like an entitled brat. If you're not an entitled brat and didn't mean any disrespect, then you need to start explaining yourself, an apology would be a good start, and then you can ask if I'd educate you on the things you're ignorant of. But that's just a tip, I don't really feel like doing that anyways. But you should still keep those things in mind if you're interested in actually discussing things like adults.

Go read this topic. Look objectively at how I come at you and how you come at me. I didnt say you were a whining child, I said the way you come at me makes you seem like one. And you arent doing yourself any favors with your recent post.

Once again I asked you to please tell me how this is different. Tell me the secrets of this sacred Hawaiian language that you are figuratively going to the grave defending. Apparently now you are the expert on this now right? So educate me. Educate us.

Lol so you just ignore my post and go back to demanding I educate you rather than doing any of the things I said, let alone even asking? Lmao you even make excuses for your last insult and double down on it, as if there's a difference between saying someone is a whining child and they seem like a whining child.

No dude. You're too disrespectful for me to want to do you any favors, and you're also acting like an entitled brat who thinks I owe him something so I can't in good conscience give in to your demands just because its what you want and think you deserve.

I already said that I don't care what you think, and that we should just agree to disagree because really I just want you to leave me alone at this point. You seem far more interested in arguing than actually learning anything. So why don't you just keep thinking whatever you want about this subject and about Hawaiian culture in general and we part ways agreeing disagree?

So we're going to go nowhere? You're the one that made a claim and refuses to explain it. Like I said, go back and read this topic. Look objectively at how you come out to be and how you get your message across. It's very defensive and abrasive. Not very appealing if you're trying to teach a lesson.

I'll leave you alone now, since that seems to be what you want. You can choose to take my words or reject them, that's your choice.

I don't think you're looking at this topic objectively, you don't seem capable of not giving yourself the benefit of the doubt because you're so entitled. Only times I can see me coming at you abrasively is when you display utter disrespect for something I cherish and take seriously.

But yes I just want you to leave at this point, I don't believe there's anything to be gained by continuing to converse with you, especially given your last few posts. If I thought there was, then things would be different. But you've given me 0 reason to have any faith that educating you on the subject would be worth it.

So thank you for leaving me alone, bye now.
