I wouldn't refund it just for that. Later on you can grow food and build something that traps fish for you.

yeah, i read that you can use l2 instead of a button to catch the fish, im about to try it in a bit

its great. take it slow and relish every moment of your first playthrough, because subsequent ones just aren't the same. some of the resources are hella tedious to find, my only complaint really.

Does anyone know if there is even any penalty to dying? I guess thats my main complaint now. It doesnt deem like anything even happens when you die :(

every time you enter your lifepod (and later base/submarine) you "secure" your inventory, so you won't drop it on death. any unsecured items you've gathered are dropped on death, but you can swim out and retrieve them if you retrace back to where you died and check the ocean floor

last question, is there timed stuff in this game? Like should i feel rushe to go check out these distress signals? Will i mss out on stuff if i wait?

As far as I know there is one event that once triggered has a time limit before it ends, but I don't know if you can alter the outcome. I'm trying not to divulge any spoilers, though it's crazy there's an actual story in a survival sandbox game.

There are two timed events in the game off the top of my head. The first is the aurora engines going critical (which has to happen so you can enter the ship), the second is one of the distress beacons (you'll know which, a timer literally pops up). From there, you have as much time to do whatever you want, despite the sense of urgency the game gives you later on.
