They only replaced Lorenzo Music because his character sounded exactly like Garfield, because he WAS Garfield.

Garfield is one of the few characters where you can never unhear his voice, ever.

If true, that's a little hilarious. Especially because most guys who do movies are so successful they don't want to bother with the tv adaptations so not only would he needed to have so little going on that he'd want to try out, but they also rejected him. Damn! And it's not like a Jackie Chan thing where they picked somebody who people had an easier time understanding.

At any rate, the early seasons were incredible. And, while there were hilarious continuity errors (iirc, in one episode Ray gets trapped somewhere and the group -- including Ray -- is seen running to rescue him), on the whole it was surprisingly good for a time when cartoons really hadn't started to get a more serious treatment in the US.
