Anything with "social" in it is never and will never be an actual study field serving anything concrete and as such, is irrevocably pointless and more often than not also inane.

Social media sucks, but I wouldn't consider it useless for studying in the thought of certain business/marketing applications

Normally it'd be gym, but because America is so stupidly fat, every little bit helps a lot. I went with social studies because they just make you memorize places and dates.

Social Studies is mostly history though, right? I think that's important.

I always hated reading lol. I honestly think that art and music are pretty important though >_>

Social Studies was like a really watered down version of a typical history class that they do to spread knowledge across all different places and times in history without actually going over them in detail. It was decent for a foundation but not necessarily productive.

For me we just went into incredible depth with Native American culture and almost never discussed anything else. It was very odd.

How is gym not winning this? At least with art and music there's still a chance of learning something. You don't learn anything in gym. Dodgeball was always fun, though.

I always thought Writing was made to appear much more important than it actually is for real life. Science and math concepts can be applied to a ton of careers.

but how many careers do you need to be able to write a persuasive or narrative essay well? Teach the basics of how to get your point across and then move on.

Hey man. Art is part of culture and one of the best ways to spread your culture to other regions. And culture is a commodity. For the average joe, there's a lot of value in art as it leads one to better appreciate and take pride in their environment if they invested in the aesthetics of their home.

All the above poll options are necessary, but schools don't go indepth enough to get you to a level where you can better appreciate it and to understand the use of the skills it offers. For creativity, the interdisciplinary interaction between these fields to the sciences are immensely beneficial.

Art, music and gym seem to engage kids that otherwise would not be engaged. Reading, math and science I think are core things needed.

Social studies is least needed.

There are plenty of career avenues that involve and researching subjects and writing essays on them. Journalism, data entry, ghostwriting, digital content creation, etc.

Something I think would be useful in schools that tends to be glossed over is speech/verbal discussions. Knowing how to form an argument and hold a verbal debate or conversation is very useful

Art and music should be made into purely optional classes if they aren't already as few have significant enough talent for them, and instead more classes that would help make more well-rounded people should be offered as an alternative (like cooking, home ec, shop, etc).
