According to an arrest affidavit, police say Garcia-Gonzalez went into the Whataburger on Burleson Road and East Oltorf Street at around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, walked behind the counter and grabbed a pair of tongs.

He then approached a staff member who was counting money and dug the metal tool into her side demanding cash, the affidavit says.

The woman said she was scared and shaking because she only saw a flash of metal and thought it was a gun, the document says.

Other staff members, seeing that he was only carrying tongs, interrupted the attempted robbery, prompting Garcia-Gonzalez to flee the store, the affidavit says.

The would-be robber was later arrested at a nearby car wash, court documents says. He was being held Tuesday at the jail on $13,000 bail, records show.

I don't think people are generally expected to be experts in differentiating between what metal objects jabbed into their ribs/kidneys/whatever feel like.
