Google search for pretty much any business or restaurant, and there's usually plenty of pictures apparently posted by people.

Are these pictures taken from people's phones unknowingly who may have some sort of location setting on? Or are all of these pictures intentionally uploaded by the user for the establishment?

Because I've noticed over the years some of these pictures can seem sort of personal versus something someone would choose to upload.

You're asked to submit them.

You go somewhere and Google prompts you to review the place, answer some questions and upload photos of it.

There's a reviewer program for people who contribute. You can get things like coupons and shit. Doesn't cost me anything, get some stuff maybe, and help other people make informed decisions on where to go.

Photos contribute by far the most points. Rating contributes basically nothing, and you have to answer a ton of questions to get even a single point. Like 50 or so.

Okay, I see. Do you have to be logged on or something like that? I've never gotten a prompt to review a place before. How does this process work? And what are the coupons like? Are they specific to the business you upload photos to?

Thanks for your help

Carry your Android phone with you and make sure you're not blocking them from collecting your GPS data.

I don't think iPhone users have a way to contribute unless there's a specialized app.

The name of the program is Google Guides or maybe Google Local Guides or whatever I feel like the company can't fucking agree on a name for something for longer than 10 minutes. I still don't know if they're called Google or Alphabet.
