I don't mind the voice. It needed to be menacing and distorted. Yes the CGI looks like trash but what can you expect when you need to create a monster made out of shiny black tar. The story will be the key to this movie. And that's the only thing I'm skeptical about. Brock is a news reporter which is already a good sign but is he captured and made into a test subject? Does he have cancer and willingly agrees to be a host? (Similar to Deadpool...) He does look to be suffering from something to start. The symbiote battles will be messy but again what can you expect. As a Venom fan I like what I see overall.
