What's not to get? Cosmetics aren't necessary to enjoy the game as it's designed.

I love people that waste money on cosmetics. It allows me to free-ride on new content in games like Rainbow 6 Siege.

Let's be real here, you can pay $60 for a game and $20 for cosmetics if you want them, or you can pay $80 for a game and cosmetics you probably don't want.

I think most people who play those games have an understanding that continuing to spend money on the game is what keeps the game running for the long term. It's not a one and done sale, people expect these types of games to get continued support and new content for years

Yep, which is why I don't mind the current set up (at least the way games like Overwatch and R6 Siege do it)

Vast majority of the time I see someone buying a cosmetic, it's because "it looks cool". The thought of "this purchase will help fund new future content" probably rarely enters their mind. I even had to explain that to a guy a few weeks ago who has bought almost every elite skin in R6 Siege. I could tell he had never really realized that his purchase was the reason future content was free for guys like me.

People talk like DLC is this evil practice whereby the base game gets jypped but really I've yet to see a series where the entries before DLC had more content than the base games after DLC. I think Sims 4 didn't have swimming pools or something but that's all I got.

Oh no a single franchise, I guess that discredits every other video game that gave away cosmetics for free and with the game.

I generally just mash A through the character creator and play as 'default guy'.

Buying cosmetics is one thing, gambling for them is another.

As such, I've yet to drop money on any game with loot boxes.

My attitude with games is simple. If it's available at launch, it should be included as part of the purchase price, almost no exceptions. That includes things you have locked away on disc for a future "D"LC or things obviously removed from the game to sell later. I do understand that the common production method is to have artists still on staff designing new gear between when the game is "finished" and when the game is released, but those should be things that are available to either unlock or buy in my book.

Down the road, if you want to add things be that cosmetic or otherwise, that's fine to charge for provided that it's not something that becomes essentially required to play the game to a reasonable degree. You bought the game as was, it doesn't mean you bought the game as was plus whatever they add at a later date for free. Most games, I don't care. Some games, I buy some DLC. For no games do I buy cosmetics, but if people want to waste money on that whatever.

And if you buy a season pass, that has to cover absolutely everything.

And as others have said, complaining about free to play games is pretty dumb regardless. Don't like it? It cost you nothing and you can stop any time.
---
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Shut the fuck up

They stopped providing them as unlockables and now it's all only unlockable via cash, which is what you fucking said and I fucking agreed with you. At least swap accounts before trying to troll with that shit.

Well yeah, obviously they are buying things because they think they're cool, but what I'm saying is people don't see a big deal with buying extra things that don't do anything other than look cool because they understand how it affects the ecosystem as a whole. Those types of MP-centric games kinda need a steady revenue
