Hell I'd say this is where most truly great games come from. Think of it like a new recipe of FPS. The tight controls and physics were mind blowing, every other console FPS was a clunky POS by comparison. Above all else, it was just a lot of fun. There really was nothing like it on consoles at the time. It set the standard for that console generation. Any reasonable gamer should know it wouldn't have been anything special had it been a PC exclusive. On the other hand, any reasonable PC gamer should be capable of understanding the impact it had on console gaming.
