I liked it even though Menma was an extremely annoying character. It's the first anime I've ever finished. The closest I've come to that is getting to around episode 24 of Death Note.

Now I need another sad anime to watch on Crunchyroll. I was going to start Clannad but it's not on there.

I can understand, Menma is one of the most annoying characters ever. The ending was worth it though for me.

You started with a 6/10 anime and actually finished it. Now you have the power to finish great animes.

Of that genre like you were looking at, Clannad is amazing and high quality all around. Golden Time is a much newer anime that is surprising high quality as well. My personal favourite of the genre is Kanon, made by the same people (KEY) that did Clannad.

It's not a genre I dabble in much so others could probably help you more.

Honestly, ylia actually is still pretty cliche and pretty disappointing in a couple of ways. But the presentation is nice, and the ending is boom.

I mean yeah, like you said they built up to it, something like that wasn't entirely surprising to me, and I loved it lol.

The way the afterstory was presented really made it feel like it was all a dream as well, so the classic "it was all a dream!" part of the ending wasn't surprising. To this day I haven't had an anime make me feel so hard after the shit that happens in afterstory >.>
