All have claimed they got money from Burgess. Of course, many people on CE - including me - think this was just an elaborate hoax. Lots of heartfelt topics on CE, thanking Burgess, saying what an amazing guy he is on, etc. regardless. Various "proof" has been posted as well.

I suppose we can try and compile a list of beneficiaries, for fun. We currently are at 6 / 100. I have no idea who the others are, and presumably they'll have to come forward themselves. Although, it all seems a bit pointless, since this doesn't appear to be real. We've already had quite a lot of speculation, and proof, to the contrary, such as pointing out the CEO of that company is still alive.

As a poster, I don't have much of an opinion on Burgess one way or the other, despite the fact I've seen him posting him on CE for years. I guess we never spoke much.

But this whole thing...it's ridiculous. Even if it was real, the idea of just doling out tons of money to a bunch of freeloaders - and that's exactly what the people would be - because they posting in a fucking topic is ridiculous. What about the 80% of people, which is about 400 people, who got nothing? Some of them may desperately have needed money. Also, he said he was picking people "randomly", but I'm pretty sure he just went through and saw the names of his favourite people, and possibly sent them money.

Has anyone ever inherited money before? Even with a will things have to go through probate and it can take awhile depending upon many factors. If this just happened he wouldn't have the money for several months at least.
