He wasnt yelling at a 5 year old, he was yelling at a grown woman who illegally parked in his handicapped space.

And after inspection of the video, the dude who pushed him was way out of line. I get that his girlfriend was being yelled at, okay. But,

A - the man was a good distance from the drivers side door. Not all up in a womans face like some people word it

B - The guy comes out, and makes a straight beeline without stopping and immediately resorts to violence by shoving him when hes just yelling. Like, use your words dude. Seems like that dude is plenty experienced in jumping straight to vuolence when its not necessary. Also the dude is 48 and your 25, and the older guy wasnt physically threatening at all.

C - He definitely LOOKS like hes going to do more then just push him. Watch the video, look at the way he hunches his shoulders, pulls up his pants, and takes a step forward. His whole demeanor looks threatening.

Now thats where im conflicted. I did watch the video, and yeah, He pulled the gun out and the guy did back off. He should not have shot him. I think he could have learned a lesson on being a violent prick, tbh, and being a dick by taking a handicapped space. But do i feel terribly sorry for the victim? Not really. The dude escalated by yelling at women . Most people would be scared of some crazy man started yelling at them, much less their wife and kids. I guess the guy should have just wanted to the crazy guy did something to his family .

They were both in the wrong. The boyfriend never should've pushed the shooter, that's just unprovoked assault. It wasn't a light push either, he pushed him to the ground and you can seriously hurt someone like that.

On the other hand, the shooter shouldn't have shot. Once the gun was pulled, it looked like the boyfriend started to back off. It wasn't necessary to shoot him at that point.

I don't know if what happened counts as self defense legally, but what a waste either way, for both of them. Senseless violence like this is just so stupid.

-At the same time, the shooter should be criminally charged with murder. He got shoved to the ground and that was it. It sucks, but his life was not in danger and he was perfectly fine. He should have let the cops handle it. It's very clear that the victim was backing away after he saw the gun so the shooter was no longer in danger.

I have met a small number of people, and almost every other gun owner I know knows at least one such person, who seem to fantasize about the opportunity to get to use their gun in self defense. People who, like Micheal Drejka , enabled by their gun, will go spoiling for trouble and end up causing a national boondoggle because a calling police dispatcher doesnt afford them the opportunity to have to defend themselves with deadly force. People like that, in my opinion, have no business owning a gun. Theyre a danger to themselves and to the people around them, and they make all gun owners worse off for their desire to live out Taken on the real streets with real blood and bullets.

The shooter threaten to kill other people before, and even called someone's place of working saying he was going to kill a guy. And he has had the police called on him before for starting fights. Literally this guy should have already been in jail.

Go ahead, assign blame to all sides if you want. All parties engaged in at least one action that they shouldn't have done and wasn't necessary. But which one of these actions results in irrevocable consequences?

1) Parking in a handicap spot
2) Yelling at someone over parking in a handicap spot
3) Shoving a man to the ground
4) Shooting a man in the chest

Not only that, watch the video. Dude takes out his gun, pauses for a few seconds, then as the guy is backing off, shoots him. Self defense my ass.

It's self defense, but that doesn't mean the shooter shouldn't be charged.

Both guys are stupid. The old man was known for starting fights with people over parking spots. He's clearly emotionally unstable and just wanted to cause trouble.

The younger guy should have controlled himself and not assault anyone. You have a much larger man in his prime, violently shove an older, smaller man to the ground. That doesn't look good on him. The GF wasn't in danger. He should have kept his cool and drive away.

Nobody is in the right in this situation and everyone involved are in a bad situation.

Just brandishing the gun would have been enough, as evident by the guy backing off when he saw it. From the footage available, there wasn't a reason to kill the guy.

Well It's likely coming, but it also seems to be worse in situations where whatever the controversy is was justified. This, however, should lead to the white dude getting some sort of charge. The victim was backing up when shot. Hard to see this as self-defense after he backed away.

That was not a light shove and the guy who got killed was a thug with a bit of a rap sheet so there's a good chance he would have followed up that shove with a beatdown.

That's said, I think the guy with the gun was on a power trip and likes to instigate situations like this knowing he has a gun in his pocket. Depends on how it gets played - it seems clear enough that ye only backed away because he saw the dude he attacked was armed. To some, this suggests his life was in danger, which could be enough to exonerate.

My prediction is that the shooter will be criminally charged.

The part where it looked like the guy who was killed was backing away will be microanalyzed. It looks bad on video and will look worse when it's dissected.

I watched the whole uncut video. My conclusions:

1) The pushing was unjustified. Maybe the guy was shouting, couldn't tell from the video, but he was standing far away from the car and his posture wasn't threatening in any way.
2) The shooting was unjustified. I see people saying that the guy who was shot was going to attack him before the gun was pulled, but it looked to me like he was just going to loom a bit. And he backed off when the gun was pulled. Backed all the way to the car, in fact, and wasn't making any threatening moves. Only then was he actually shot. The conflict had clearly already ended when the gun was pulled. Therefore stand your ground shouldn't apply since he had no reason to be fearing for his life at that point.
