tl;dr: Jerks didn't tip me for my service and my boss yelled at me about it.

I got a job at a Chinese diner recently and it sucks. I get mostly tips and barely make anything and I still have to go home to my baby and he's not awake. I've been so broke lately that I couldn't even make it to Anthrocon this year to try to find the father of my baby.

But back to the job, I'm disgusted. I constantly have to serve meat to people and that goes against my vegan beliefs. When I bring people food I can smell the meat and I feel so nasty about it. Like sweet and sour pork or orange chicken and stuff. I know I'm not consuming it, but I can smell it, and the scent is certainly not vegan at all. I get so disgusted by it.

Well tonight I decide I had enough and I got a family. All they wanted were fried rice, egg rolls, and orange chicken. It's terrible that they're choosing non-vegan things, and I can't do anything about the orange chicken or egg rolls. They even ordered the fried rice with pork. But the pork in it isn't that much, so I could vegetarianize it for them. So I put tofu on the order and gave it to the cook. The cook makes the food and I give it to them and then walk off and go help another table. I then hear some shouting from the table trying to get my attention and so I look over and head over there.

I get there and the father is just furious. He's going on and on about how he hates tofu and his family hates it too and I'm awful and blah blah and I needed to go get him some pork. I told him off too and informed him that he clearly was killing enough animals with his plate and he didn't need to kill any more by putting pig meat in there too and that I was not going to give him pork. We went at it for a few minutes until my boss comes by, apologizes, and then comps him and tells me to give him whatever he wants. I shed a tear as I brought the plate of fried rice with pork.

It's the end of the night and the family is leaving. They pay and leave no tip. I go over and tell them that I deserve a tip for my service and the guy says no, and just leaves. This is practically theft of services because you are supposed to tip, no matter how good or bad the service is. And in my case, service was good.

So that's my night.
