At the store a few years ago, some little kid kept running into the pet aisle and grabbing dog toys, food, etc.

He was crying like crazy and the mom had to keep explaining to him that the dog was gone

Pretty much anything pet related makes me upset.

Generally, when people find out that their loved ones aren't gonna make it, especially in situations where it's extremely unexpected (younger patients without other health issues etc).

There are a few memorable situations that still replay in my mind as being particularly awful, one involving an elementary school aged kid telling their dying parent goodbye.

I don't think I'll ever be able to forget.

I used to work for an ambulance company. One call was a for a dude who I went to high school with who took his own life via shotgun to the mouth. You could just barely make out his face from the mess that was what was left of his head.

Was working on New Years day (am a janitor at a hospital) in the NICU and twins died two days after delivery.

Seeing the reaction of the parents broke my fucking heart.

I work for an ambulance company so Ive seen a bit of sad shit. One that comes to mind is a mentally ill woman I had to transport to her assisted living place (a vile place filled with mental patients, drug addicts, and degenerates. Poorly kept). She spoke normal and looked normal if not dirty but there was some screws loose upstairs. Anyways she was showing me her art work (it was bad but I showed interest) then she told me a lot of the male patients at this home use her for sex and she wonders why all of these "friends" ingore her. Something about a 40 year old mentally ill woman getting repeatedly sexually abused without knowing any better made me pretty sad.

C-section for an IVF pregnancy where the twins didn't survive, the mother had no other children, and we had to end up doing a cesarean-hysterectomy because we couldn't control the bleeding. That was a hard day.

But overall the saddest most gut wrenching thing I've ever seen in my life was the 9/11 jumpers on live tv that morning.

One time, like at 2 AM on a Friday night, I was playing Battlefield and my friend hopped online so I went to play with him. Except it turned out to be one of his kids, and I was like "Hey isn't your dad gonna be upset that you're up so late?" and he responded "I don't care, I hate my dad, he doesn't even like me".

There's a video on YouTube (still there or not, I dunno) of a recorded 911 call from someone in one of the two towers on 9/11. Obviously he's frantic and the smoke is everywhere, and the dispatch lady is keeping calm as humanly possible telling him help is on the way, and then the call ends with him yelling as the floor bottoms out. That messed me up for a long time.

PS, I know the topic says 'seen' but that came to mind first, so :p

Recently?? I dunno I work in construction and someone had hit a cat with tractor trailer or dumptruck or something by the new houses. Thing had a collar on. Smashed him like a pancake his eyes shot out of his skull so fast it was like popping 2 zits on your forehead at mach speed.
