TVLine reports that The CW is working on a Batwoman TV series as part of the Arrowverse, which will focus on the second Batwoman, Kate Kane. The character was introduced in 2006 and is described as an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter. The series is being developed by Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions. Caroline Dries will write and executive produce with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns.

Heres a synopsis: Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing citys criminal resurgence. But dont call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gothams symbol of hope.

Batwomans debut in the Arrowverse will take place in the annual crossover between Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl. Her debut was announced by Stephen Amell at the CW Upfront back in May. Edit - Oh, just old news. Sorry

it's a huge part of who she is. in the comics she is a very out and proud lesbian and she dates a cop.

btw she is Bruce Wayne's cousin. I don't know if this will come up on tv. but that's her family tie to Batman. The Kanes are a side branch of the Wayne family. or she's related to Mrs Wayne or....something. somehow she is a cousin, I know that much
