I've heard of republicans trying to pass bills to that effect. Do you think it makes sense? While I'm sure it would provide some job security for funeral homes and grave diggers, I think it is a bit silly since a lot of the time you'd be burying something the size of a tampon.

As someone who had to work with/add preservatives to products of conceptions (abortions) and missed abortions (miscarriages), I can say that the majority of the time youd be burying shredded tissue in a plastic evacuation container. One time we did have to clean that and wrap it up for a family that did want to bury it and I can say its more traumatizing than anything, plus is hazardous to the environment seeings how hospitals usually have to preserve specimen in formalin for 2 weeks before they can release it to you. Even washing tissue with alcohol, trace amounts of formalin will remain. We did see fully formed fetuses but that was maybe once a month compared to the 20-50 POCs wed get a day.
So overall this would traumatizing for the parents (in order to shame them), frustrating and gross for lab workers having to deal with the specimen, and bad for the environment.
Source: I worked in surgical pathology and all abortion/miscarriage remains from our hospital had to go through us to be logged, preserved, and stored in case doctors later wanted to do any tissue examination.

So if a kid dies at 2 years old to some disease they dont deserve a funeral because they were a kid who accomplished nothing in their short life?

You would celebrate the life of a 2 year old because you have those memories of their life and those 2 years meant something you.

What's there to celebrate about a fetus that was never intended to exist? "Welp, it was inside for a few months and when I realized this I was all 'shit, I don't want this' so I had it removed." Obviously, if a woman miscarries, needs an abortion to save her life or the fetus has an incurable lethal condition/deformity like massive holes in the brain, she may want to have a funeral, and that's fine. She has every right and I wouldn't look down on her for doing so. Mandatory funerals? Nah, bullshit. The only motivation behind that is to shame, and I can't think of an example where I would ever side with people who are motivated strictly by shaming others.

Even if that was my viewpoint, clearly it didn't mean anything to anyone so what life would there be to celebrate? You're just using an emotion-charged argument to defend pointless shaming.
