The Steam Controller isn't my favorite, but I really like the buttons it added on the back. They feel natural and satisfying to press. Slap those onto the Wii U Gamepad and give the sticks actual notches and you've probably got the best controller out there.

The only problem with the Elite controller (other than being pretty damn expensive) is that the paddles on the back can't be mapped to separate functions if you're on a PC

The Steam Controller's can

Are you sure? On Xbox they can't but they're labeled with unique icons/names when mapping them so I would assume they could be detected as such on PC.

Haven't personally touched one of them (since they're goddamn $150 apiece), so I can't speak for how they fit the hand or how the back buttons feel.

This thing, if it wasn't limited to a simple binary function, and also actually worked.

Gamecube with a left shoulder button and click-able sticks

The 4 face button set up on the Gamecube controller is absolutely legendary and it's a real shame that Nintendo didn't return to it or upgrade the Smash re-release controllers

Xbox One shell, add 4 bumpers on back. Push-to-talk button on right grip ( about where your pinky would be) toggle mute all on left grip (same position) replace right stick with a trackpad that can act as analog stick, buttons, or as a mouse. Allow every button to be mapped as you like and include functions for throttling (or toggling) sensitivity, switching the function of the trackpad, swap between pretset mapping, and pretty much every useful function you could think of. Those can all be mapped to any button you wish. Finally make it universal so it can be used on any console.
