state run liquor store.

Today I had to work at a liquor store in the city, in fact the oldest fwgs store(fine wine and good spirits, the name of the PA branded liquor stores) in Pittsburgh, opened in 1939.

Now the store I work at normally is in the suburbs. It is run down and a hole in the wall like the city one, but it isnt really the same.

The one I work at is small but much bigger. I didn't even know they had liqour stores this small. Despite that it didn't feel cramped much at all.

This one definitely has more of an emphasis on brandy and cognac, CB, Hennesy, E&J, etc. My normal store almost never sells that stuff. Plus ciroc. They have like 6 flavors of ciroq we have two. They had several flavors of mad dog, which ive never seen, and Wild Irish Rose, which I guess is a similar chemical fortified wine, ive never heard of it. My store carries neither, but thats also through my managers discretion. He refuses to stock mad mog.

Random products have tags on them we need to remove before they can be sold. My normal store doesn't do this at all. This store also has a gate in front of the door you close when its night, mine doesnt have that either.

They are a two floor building in a sense. the main stockroom is upstairs but there is another stock room downstairs with a belt to feed cases upstairs. That is neat, I wish I had that.

The store was also in some ways cleaner than my own store. My store has had one too many bottles drop on carpet for it to smell a little stinky sometimes, especially in the white wine aisle. Either I am so accustomed to liqour store scents, this place had no foul odor and was kept nice.

There is a sign in the city store at each register that says "do NOT reach over the counter. I've never seen that.

People in the city buy mainly pints. You do sell some bottles but not as many as pints, at least from what I saw today. We well pints but way more bottles.

The store was slower than my suburban store, but this isn't directly in downtown, either.

"hey, i ACTUALLY bought a bottle of beer. one bottle!"

"what kind?"

"Amstel Light!"

"...why?"

"Well, I was near the beer section at the grocery store and workin' on a hot day I figured what they hay!"

The car you're sitting in that the picture was taken from... Seemed obvious to me. But ok.
