If you remember my topic yesterday a new dentist told me I needed 6 fillings. To be fair I've only had three professional cleanings in the past 5-6 years or so. But I'm reading online that some dentists are needlessly proactive just to put in fillings and make money off of suckers like me.

I ask because my appointment is in 25 minutes and each filling will cost me $230 out of pocket.

I'm going to ask the dentist if these are all necessary or if we can just monitor them.

No. Stop being so fucking cheap with your own health, especially when you literally just made a topic on wanting to shit all over $2,000 in Vegas. What the fuck.

They can be but you havnt gone in years so you actually need them. You could probably get them done cheaper.

I'm not an expert but I have an anecdote about this

Got a cleaning, dentist told me a cavity was "starting" and he could get it filled right then and there cause he was free. I told him no thanks cause there was no pain, he said it would get worse down the line, I told him I didn't have the cash so I'd just take care of it next time.

Next time rolls around, he tells me my teeth are perfect, no cavities.

So...I'm always really suspect unless I have pain.

I have some dull pain in my molars I think, but I am literally in constant pain all over my body at all times so I don't know if it's just mental or not.

I do clench my jaw a lot

They will deepen, hit the nerve and require root canals and crowns that require $1000+ a pop. Or need to be extracted.

$230 per filling never even heard of that. Any decent insurance pays for fillings and u pay nothing out of pocket.

Believe it or not, small and early cavities MAY actually heal themselves if they are on the surface and you are rigorous in brushing and cleaning at that point.

i clench my butt a lot and my doctor always fills it, so i understand.

Just find a good dentist in Ukraine and treat yourself to a vacation. It'll be a lot cheaper all around than trying to do it in the US rofl.

My work dental sucks, $26/month, max benefit of $1,000, fillings covered 80%. These 5 fillings would have cost me $500 with that insurance anyway.

Someone told me to get some sort of flouride mouthwash after that, which I did use.

But I'm honestly pretty bad about brushing and flossing. I usually only get one in a day so I would be surprised if I did it enough to heal it.

But like, if you feel pain, have been skipping cleanings and most of all can afford it probably best to just get it done and skip worse shit down the road.
