Literally playing a game where you don't respawn. If you like it, that's fine. I just don't see the appeal.

I don't care about the not respawning part. I care about the fact that there are 10+ minutes of doing nothing and then you die.

Not respawning is fine

It's just about everything else that's wrong with battle royale games

It's fun with a group of people. There's really no expectation (at least with my squad) to win, it's just fun reacting to how the match plays out.

But I agree, if it's just solo I find that boring.

I'll admit, when it came out I played a fair amount of PUBG (like 30 hours).

I never won but I got in to the top 5 a few times, top 2 like twice. The adrenaline definitely gets pumping in those situations.

You basically just fuck around in them.

Sometimes you win.

Matchmaking is pretty fast since the next match you get in consists mostly of losers from the previous match.

There are better games for just fucking around in than battle royale games where you have a time limit and one life...

Nah. Every time someone suggests "here check this out you just fuck around" it turns into a 6 hour ordeal.

When I say just fuck around I mean it. Like 20 seconds per match if you're really bad.

What's the point of spending more time in a lobby and then landing in your starting spot than actually playing the game...

People are attracted to the challenge of it. Not respawning gives a really deserving feeling to every win.

Its really not that hard to get into a game. You die, youre in a new game in 30 seconds.

And the finally the most important aspect. Every match is a little different. The sandbox nature of it is super appealing. Where you land, what weapons you find, how the playzone changes, etc. Theres a thousand variables so no two matches are really alike. Helps the longevity of the game on a micro and macro level. youre more likely to put in time to play a few more rounds because the game isnt getting stale so quickly, and the game has a very very long shelf life.

the tension in a game like that with things like no radar and traps, can make for some very epic moments. very fun as an off game for whatever it is you normally play

It also gives a sense of freedom. You can hide your way to the end or you can rush people and loot their equipment. You can bait people. You can camp people.

When you succeed the game makes you feel like you are awesome. But there are a lot of times that you'll feel like an idiot falling for other peoples tricks.

There was this time when i was looting a building. 2 players came in and i killed them. So i continued to loot the building for like another 5minutes. As soon as i walked out, i got gunned down like a dog.
I watched the replay and some asshole camped at a corner of the building outside, waited out the fire fights and listened to my footsteps for 5-10 fucking minutes until i walked out.
