Sad to say, it wasn't too great. Everything just felt phoned in, especially the comedy

Ant man 1 felt like it had nothing to lose, so they put in a bunch of humor in it and it worked, the father daughter dynamic, the three "wombats", everything else

but here comes 2, they probably thought "okay we're a comedy movie now" and ehhhhh.

okay this is silly but I want to see who else thought this

when they were going into Ghost's backstory, am I the only one that thought they got a bald white guy to play Young Laurence Fishburne?

I thought the two were father and daughter at first, so when she was like MY FATHER WAS WORKING ON THIS PROJECT and it was that white dude and I was like "wut"

THEN came along young Fishburne as an agent\scientist\whatever

with that said, the villains were underwhelming here. Ghost had cool powers but they never really showed them off and got creative with them that much.
Actually the same could be said about the heroes too. Wasp had that fight scene in the Kitchen but Ant man not so much. It was cool seeing him go small and seeing the world around him all blown up, but not alot of that happened here.
I guess they "got it out of the way" in the first one

It was interesting how they gave more than one reason why he couldn't go Giant Man, which makes sense since he would literally just stomp out everyone if he could do it freely, but to hammer it in, they explained his costume was a "work in progress" and that allowed that silly filler scene at the elementary school. Again, ehhhhhh

but anyways, it still made me laugh and had decent action.

Now those credit scenes

It almost made the whole movie worth it
It was cruel, uncalled for, undid the entire movie

but thats Thanos, man.

It WAS predictable, you knew this movie was gonna tie in into Avengers 3 somehow

but having Antman earn his happy ending, and then ALL of his colleagues just get dusted and having him get stranded in the Quantum Realm

MAN.

Avengers 4 can't come soon enough, I want to see the world, no, the universe post thanos snap. Especially want to see how Antman gets out of the realm. But you know what that means, hes gonna have Quantum powers when he gets out. That should be interesting

also I had a few people tell me to stay for BOTH credits

so i thought the 2nd one was gonna be just a mindblowing

fucking Ant playing drums

Movie was awesome. Ghost is a top tier Marvel villain because she's unique in her motivations and not even really a villain.

Personally I thought the second post credits scene was actually kind of eerie with the emergency broadcast signal playing throughout, even after the cut to black.

It's the second part of Avengers 3, not 4. Not trying to nitpick just want you aware so in five years you're not confused when people talk about the fourth installment.

the irony is that its not unique, its pretty much been the new formula of Marvel movies

This isn't true anymore. They specifically said that it's not a two-parter, and the next is indeed "Avengers 4."

Ehhhhhh Vulture and Killmonger were sympathetic but they were still huge jerks. Ghost, not so much. Just a sick chick.

I like how everyone was flipping out over the credit scene but it was exactly what you expected it to be.

Also how it completely invalidates basically the entire movie.

Like I said, I knew The Thanos snap was gonna come into play. Everyone did

but it taking out ALL of his colleagues, AND stranding him in the Quantum Realm, was the OMG shocker moment

Eh... a lot of people were guessing that him being in the quantum realm was how he was going to survive.

Also, the movie didn't really explain what he was doing during the events of IW, huh? He should have been out of house arrest during that time.

Ghost was a great villain. As said, the only reason she even has for "villainy" is that she's literally dying without getting the Macguffin, so fuck you, people getting in the way

I really want her to get a solo movie. Three days to live, she obviously can't get the cure Scott's holding, so she has to find her own or die. That would be amazing

The movie felt like filler. You had this huge event with IW, and really any movie after that would feel lesser for it. The villain being basically some guy didn't help. Not saying it was a bad movie, it delivered the things you generally expect from a Marvel movie, but it was destined to be less interesting and important than IW.

Considering the timescale of IW, I think implication is he was literally helping Pym at the time, what with the credit scene and all.

If you make every movie as important as IW, the importance of IW loses meaning. Sometimes a story can be interesting without reaching the level of overwhelmingly important stakes in a large-scale franchise. If you're expecting everything to reach those levels, then you're asking for those levels to lose relevancy.

I completely agree with you about this. I'm saying that the movie immediately after IW, no matter what it was, was sort of doomed from the start by virtue of comparison. Nothing could possibly live up to the bar IW set, so Marvel went with a story that was even smaller than most of the standalone movies.

I'm wondering how the Captain Marvel movie (that comes between IW and Avengers 4, right?) will do.

I enjoyed this movie a lot; very funny with good action. Very solid performances all around. Movie did feel pointless in the grand scheme of things. I'm hoping Ghost will come into play at some point in the future because it feels like they didn't do enough with her.

Did they ever explain how Ant-Man got out of the quantum realm the first time?

I mean, I feel that way too, and I was kind of looking forward to a smaller-scale movie as a "palette cleanser" after IW, but this one felt like really low stakes, even compared to the first Ant-Man.

His daughters voice acted like an anchor for him to key in on. It was as valuable to him as getting the precise coordinates of Janet that they needed to locate her to rescue her.
