anyone else think this scene was ridiculously out of place? it's actually very profound to me

...what was the point of that

Same as the point of the entire movie Hamfisted pandering to Christians-are-so-persecuted-and-atheists-are-evil

Sometimes the devil gives you a life of luxury and then suddenly its too late to leave that life of luxury and youre stuck in luxury forever

the thing about the God's Not Dead movies (and others like them) is you can't argue against or criticize them because that just proves their point about being "persecuted"

True story.

When the original came out.

A lot of the bible thumping parts of my family hopped on the "text everybody you know Gods not Dead" thing that happened.

And I promptly mass replied Hail Satan.

The ensuing blowing up of my phone was hilarious. Suffice to say, good the nails were already hammered into the coffin as far as my relationship was with these people anyway.

I actually did like the writing a lot. You had all these different subplots which all came together at the end, and it's revealed there was a purpose for everything that happened even though it seemed random and stupid and frustrating.

But the acting and the dialog and the directing and etc were more or less what you expect from a super low budget film like that.

There is nothing profound in that scene.

can you give me an example of something that is profound?

When you're listening to Tool, just remember that they're not like other bands. Their music is incredibly artistic, almost to the point where you have to be paying complete attention to them to even remotely understand them. I remember listening to a song on Lateralus (though I can't remember what it was), where I thought a song was absolute bollocks during the listen. Then, I closed my eyes for a second, and all of a sudden the song had an entirely new meaning. It was insane the way Tool could just become something so different when you take a look into the music.

Another thing you should note about Tool is that it's easy to get a headache listening to them. Not because they're a bad band, but because of how many ideas their music is riddled with and how complex they are. Soon enough your head will fill to the brim and the rest will just sound like noise to you. Just turn it off and give it a listen the next day.

If you don't like the music, you'll definitely at least enjoy reading through the lyrics, and picking apart the song itself and all of the artistic values that go into making it the complexity that it is.

To be fair you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty...

Thats practically nothing. The Valentines Day/New Years Eve/whatever the fuck holiday ensemble cast movies have been doing that, and more. Love Actually has a better plot and writing, and I would say less overlap between paths that characters take but they are pretty comparable. When you see a movie start branching off in different directions like that without any obvious connections being made, you know that they will eventually intertwine. It all really depends upon how good the payoff is, and I dont think Gods Not Dead has a strong enough payoff. The biggest piece is that everybody wants to attend a Newsboys concert... yeah, okay.

I enjoyed the movie for what it was the first go around, but every time after I cant help picking it apart because there is so much in it that just exemplifies how poorly it is constructed. They could have done so much more; there is definitely a good, reasonable movie hidden in there.
