Did you remember hearing about this story? Apparently it was malpractice and a tonsilectomy left her daughter brain dead. But she refused to believe doctors telling her her daughter was and took her to new jersey. Apparently she's also mad that it seems she can't sue in calif for more than 250 thousand cause that's the cap in CA. Well it certainly ain't capped in my state.

Oh good, she was religious. Here I thought the system could have had a civilized outcome, based upon logic and fairness.

yeah i kinda don't agree with california's cap. In my state iirc they just had like a 130 million judgement in a malpractice case

Yeah, malpractice insurance is a thing. It also keeps medical prices from going up.

Yet somehow, magically, the costs arising from this sort of lifesaving attempt after the doctor's colossal fuck-ups would be more. /Thinking.

New Jersey's Medicaid program, donations and family members paid for the girl's care. Winkfield said she sold her California home and drained her savings to keep her daughter on life support.

During the service, Winkfield was lauded for her determination and strength to disagree with California doctors.

"This is a celebration of a miracle," Bishop Bob Jackson said at Oakland's Acts Full Gospel Church. "And it started with her mother not accepting the doctors' conclusions."

What fucking miracle is he talking about? I can understand her lawsuit stemming from the botched tonsillectomy, but her draining all her money and selling her house to keep her on life support was just pure stupidity.

"My daughter should not have died in New Jersey," Winkfield said. "She should have died in California."

Maybe you shouldn't have taken her to New Jersey then?
