My 30 second armchair quarterback hot-take here is that Samsung did so well by providing superior hardware at crazily cheaper prices even if the OS/UX was slightly less seamless.

Now they're providing slightly superior hardware at more or less the same price and the OS/UX is maybe slightly more stable but still dodgy. I'm not too surprised now tbh. Can't be pushing that shit at $900.

It was a very very small upgrade from the 8 and the 10 will be out in a year and will definitely be much better.

It's not that they're forcing people to buy the new phones every year, but rather it seems an option people can upgrade for those holding onto their current phone that's at least 2 years old.

I thought the S7 Edge would be my forever phone but battery was degrading and it had spontaneous lags here and there.

Now I currently run the Galaxy Note 8, and there's a huge difference in performance even though it's a year and a half apart. Plus, the S-Pen.

Same, just got the oreo update, so I got atleast 1 more year left if not more.

People who upgrade all the time dont appreciate the advancements going phone to phone.

But when you go phone to phone with a 3-5 year gap you notice it more obviously.

It's been 300 bucks off at most retailers for like a month and a half though. That's why I got it, I'm paying 492 for the phone instead of 792. Well worth it imo for that price.

Smart phones are no longer having crazy technological jumps. My S5 is still holding up fine, I can't say the same thing about my old smart phone when it was 4 years old.

I'm still using a Note 4 and have no reason to change. I just need to get a new battery because it's finally starting to have a weak charge, but not enough to be debilitating.

I went from a 6 to a 9+ and the difference was noticeable. I cant see why some people do yearly upgrades. The jump must be tiny

Did they fix the location of the Back button on the S9?

Do you mean if it can be on the left or right of the home button? I have an S8 and you can switch it. I believe it was an OS update.

My next conceivable upgrade might be the S10+.
