I don't dislike it per se, but I just like sports where scores are made frequently or somewhat frequently. It's not as exciting to see teams going back and forth for hours before a score is made.

Which is totally fair and seems to be the main complaint I hear about soccer, although that's also the same reason why soccer fans love soccer. Those goals are that much sweeter when they're not happening every 3 minutes. Guess it just comes down to what you get out of sport.

I dislike soccer because of the culture around it. I think it's a beautiful game but it's ruined by thugs, manbabies and the lowest class of people acting like total fucking sleazebags.

they don;t stop the clock even when they need to address something which I find odd

the refs can be very corrupt

the players also though tend to be douches

cheating is out of control

the game is boring despite technically full of action, cause all they do is just run back and forth for like an hour or whatever. and MAYBE 1 goal will happen

the fans tend to be racist to black people and throw bananas on the field when a black player is playing

Neymar flopping (as an example of the diving) and like 3 shots on goal per team. Its less intense, slower paced ice hockey. Its not that I dislike it, I just like other sports more.

The rest of your points are fair but generally in soccer (and rugby) they do this to keep the flow of the game going basically. For example, if Messi has the ball and someone fouls him but he carries on or another player on his team carries on, the ref might not call the foul to allow them to continue the advantage. It's to stop an intentional foul disrupting an obvious winning chance from eventuating. This can also be abused.

This is a problem I think, though. I know it's a common opinion that people have, but there's just more depth to soccer. Yeah some matches are boring af, especially when one team hogs possession and the other team isn't competent enough to get the ball back. But some matches that end in 0-0 or 1-1 are some of the best played games out there.

There's so much going on.

The problem I think is that the players train so much that they make it look easy. In reality, it's not that easy to carry the ball plus keep track of where your teammates are (or judge where they're going to be) plus keep track of where your opponents are (or where they're going to be) plus try to figure out a good strategy on the field plus make a pass that is received or make a play to psyche out the opponent and get around him. All that and then you still have to make the goal. Oh and you're constantly sprinting for 45+ minutes at a time.

The amount of athleticism there is ridiculous.

Just looked it up and apparently the average professional soccer player runs 6 miles per match.

A major reason for me.

Another major reason.

If you look at it and compare it to other major organized team sports, you quickly realize that soccer is a 'primitive' sport, for lack of a better word to describe it.

The fundamental idea is sound and it can become an entertaining sport, but it needs some major tweaks and rule revisions for that.

Take VARs, for instance. The complete lack of video reviews beforehand was inexplicably stupid. But then, due to the outcry, they decide to implement reviews for the first time... in such a half-assed way that I have suspicions that they made it so ridiculous on purpose.

I like hockey. Soccer is like a much slower game played on an enormous field with no physical contact and man babies that dive and cry when they are barely tapped. I don't find it to be intense or enjoyable through the entire length of the game.

It's not without giving it a chance, I've seen dozens of games.

To those saying the matches are too long, just have it on TV in the background while you're doing something else. I get enjoyment out of soccer when I do that.

I only watch World Cup soccer, but I've watched pretty much every match.

Still, the diving is ridiculous and disgraces the sport to the point where it's almost impossible to watch.

Other than that, there's just not enough going on in the 90 minute time frame to keep me interested.

Im pretty neutral about it but the MLS admittedly sucks and you have to go thru a lot of hoops to legally watch consistently high level European play outside of a few exceptions...and most of those exceptions are with the Premiere League or German league at oddball times for an American audience.

But Id put soccer as better than at least basketball or hockey. I do like it but I have doubts itll ever top the normative NA sports for popularity with kids on the street.

Soccer is literally worse than hockey

It's basically the same sport but hockey is faster and there are a lot more scoring chances (a lot more times when what's happening on the ice/field actually matters)
