It's misleading the way that's worded. It's a glitch in the system that's being worked on. Software sometimes has bugs and it's not because of ill intent. No one wants to prevent naturalized citizens from voting.

Despite Ekundayos trouble online, she said she was able to update her voter registration by going in person to her local voter registration office. But even after updating her registration, when she went to see if the online system had changed, she said it gave her the same errorthat she isnt a U.S. citizen.

After Ekundayos post went viral, various people have reached out to her attempting to remedy the situation, including the office of Democratic Rep. Jim Cooper. Jim believes nothing is more important than making sure everyone is able to exercise their right to vote, his press secretary, Chris Carroll, told the Daily Dot.

Ekundayo said she also received a call from Mark Goins, the election coordinator with Tennessees division of elections. She said Goins told her the website was designed to tell immigrants whether they can vote in the U.S. and insisted that the website was working accuratelydespite Ekundayo telling him that the website overlooked her naturalization.

If people weren't supposed to register before a deadline then the deadline should be moved, not have people's access restricted arbitrarily.

If people weren't supposed to register before a deadline then the deadline should be moved, not have people's access restricted arbitrarily.

If you register early, you can verify early. Or choose an alternate method of registering instead of online on the off chance there are issues.
