AOL's Steve Case. He had the screen name Steve Case, people kept trying to hack him using AOL progs and stuff, but usually just mimicked his name to try and steal your data, using keyloggers & Trojan horses. Then it became email scams and worm clusters, and AOL sunk from their bad business policies. Then the real internet started, when web browsers became independent, outside of AOL's own built in web browser, but everything felt more disconnected because there was no meetup spot, so myspace became facebook and it went from there.

i did in the late 90s and early 2000s as a child and pre-teen. i'm talking sub 12 years old. i used to pretend i was older because i thought no one would want to talk to a 8-10 year old about anything so i'd say i was 14-16. one time a guy who said he was in his early 20s emailed me a picture of what he said was going to be his face. when i opened the email it was not his face. definitely not his face.

One time when I was like nine, my friend (who was a girl) emailed me this thing about why girls were better than boys. Like an old chain mail thing. I responded back with three words, your a bitch!

She reported the email and it went straight to my parents (who were the main accounts, mine was a child account) and I got my ass beat. Bad. I also had to write a huge apology.

I fucked that girl in ninth grade.

actually i got really afraid because i had never seen a penis before and i thought my parents were going to find out. i felt really bad because my parents trusted me to not have a child account and i thought i was going to get in a lot of trouble because he emailed that to me. i felt really sick to my stomach because i didn't even know people did things like that.
