What are you against your kid seeing/hearing? A lot of children's anime have light swear words like bastard and damn. To set a bar, I do allow her to watch Rick and Morty. She gets most of the jokes and storylines. She sings that "Moon Man" song from the episode with the "Fart". Rick and Morty is probably the limit of what I will allow as far as violence/profanity. --- Torn between two minds. Is either correct? Perhaps together.....but how? I've noticed that some of the most common "gateways" for early anime fans are either shonen anime (like Naruto or My Hero Academia), magical girl anime (like Sailor Moon or Cardcaptor Sakura) or Studio Ghibli movies. Keep in mind that some of the shows in those genres can get pretty violent (like Hunter x Hunter or Madoka Magica) or fanservice-y (like Fairy Tail or Kill La Kill) so be sure to check out the shows yourself before you show them to a young potential fan. As for Toonami specifically, some of what's on there is too violent for a young viewer, since it's part of the Adult Swim portion of Cartoon Network.
