Both movies which had a "huh, I enjoyed that more than I thought I would" so bad it's good quality to them.

And both of which were basically just doing the same plot as the first movie of their respective series which wasn't bad and kinda worked for the movies after such a long hiatus.

And here's the kicker, both the latest jedi and fallen kingdom were rather disappointing and unnecessary followups to those 2015 movies. That's a lot of odd coincidences.

Jurassic world 2 didn't even have the first's so bad it's good quality, and jw basically being a modern remake of the first is admittedly the strongest point for it, so the second isn't really that great in that regard. Don't really care about sw but while I liked the first rogue one movie (again not expecting to like another sw flick) I just didn't like sw 8 at all.

Interestingly I actually had something akin to hype for both weirdly enough. Was expecting jw 2 to have another so bad it's good quality because it's like, what the hell kinda story can they come up with lol (found out a stupid continuation of the once hilarious joke about dinosaurs being remotely viable or efficient weapons) and with sw 8 I had all this hype of people on the internet hating it and hating the directors/people in charge for what they did to Luke, so I was really expecting to like it and imagining that the movie was about that Luke hero from the trilogy becoming evil (the promotional poster kinda cemented this theory). I was sorely disappointed by what they actually went with.

Just found the whole thing to be a bizarre coincidence all around.

Although for a bit of irony, jurassic world 2 continued a plot line literally no one wanted to see, the stupid dinosaurs as weapons (an initially funny B-movie premise that the writers are unironically being serious about) while star wars 8 is apparently criticized for dropping all the plot lines that it built in the previous 2015 movie that people wanted to see. So that's a nice little inverse there.

I didn't and still found myself thinking huh, this movie isn't that fun. At least chris pratt is always a joy to see. Didn't like 8 though or any of the characters. Just didn't care about anything that was going on. If it had donnie yen that would have been so cool, I really liked him in the previous movie. It actually made me want to know more about the lore (not that I'd ever do star wars lol but for him I might)
