All "science" is is a method of obtaining and processing information through testing and repeatable results.

The whole point of science is that it's constantly being proven wrong and being updated with new facts and information as they are discovered.

Yet people get some weird notion that you "just have to believe that science has all the answers" with science basically as a corollary to god

wtf?

When available, a lay person should defer to the expert. The issue is not that people defer, it's that they do so and then transmit undue certainty in the process.

Because a hyperreligious person only understands religion, so if the topic of discussion revolves around an alternate explanation for the origin of life or what happens after death, they're going to only be able to relate it to ... well, religion. It's a sign of ignorance.

Just as there are religious folks who follow the bible blindly, there are those on the other side of the horseshoe who completely miss the point of science and take everything science related as the holy grail. And honestly, they anger me more because it contradicts science like you say TC. You should always have skepticism in regards to what new research is concluding. And scientists don't blindly accept things as they come anyways. Not even Einstein was cool with Quantum Mechanics when the concepts were first published, in fact he was vocally against it initially as it contradicted laws he theorized and predicated his life's work on. For example, the law that nothing moves faster than the speed of light is contradicted when you introduce quantum entanglement as information moves instantaneously between the 2 entangled no matter the distance.

You shouldn't believe that "science" has all the answers. You should believe that science can explain the world around us with evidence and evolve as we gain more insight.

It makes no sense for people to treat it as religion when religion's problem is that it is rejects questioning and does not evolve.

It's still not exactly the same as the concept they are worshiping is the complete opposite of religion. Their ignorance doesn't change anything.
