1. Is it true that each character only has 2 or 3 moves each, and they're pretty easy to pull off?

2. If yes, how is the game still fun? Most fighting games these days have dozens of moves for each character.

Characters have about 25 different moves each. Almost all of these moves can be activated by pressing a button, you don't have to do weird combos like in other fighting games.

Really? I remember a long time ago, someone said they only have 2 or 3 move. It's still sad how easy they are to do, then. Is this game mostly a combination of memorisation and platforming ability?

Yeah, it's not really a fighting game. Its a party game where you fight each other.

Each character has 4 special moves and a variety of normal attacks using the A and B buttons.

The fun comes from the physics-based gameplay, with every character having their own sense of weight and mass. The characters are basically just action figures being tossed around a stage.

It's not for everyone, though if you were to give the series a real chance I would recommend playing with at least one or two friends.

You probably heard that there are 2 buttons for attacks specifically (regular and special), but that doesn't mean there are only 2 moves.

Regular attack buttons are in 2 categories, smash and tilt. Tilting the stick up, down, side, or neutral gives different attacks than smashing the stick in those directions, so that's 8 attacks. Then there's those directions in the air, but forward and back are different, so that's 5 moves. Then there's throwing in all 4 directions (plus a holding attack), so that's 4 or 5 moves. And then there's other stuff like dash attack, ledge attacks, and wake up attacks.

So yea, roughly 20 moves per character.

Edit: I forgot specials, so that's another 4 moves.

Characters have a wide variety of moves done by a combination of either A or B (B is special moves) and holding a direction on the control stick. Smash Attacks are strong attacks that can be done by quickly moving the control stick in a direction and pressing A at the same time.

Then you have Ryu, who has more moves than he does in his own game.
It's crazy how he gets so many just or him, every character should have light and heavy.
