Smash 4 was a letdown in every aspect

Maybe I just played 4 too much but looking back it's as though the game rode out its entire lifespan on pre-release hype and series drought. The music was the weakest in the series and although tripping was removed, the game's still pretty slow, there's more combos but so much of that is down throw gratification and shield/dodge was extremely powerful. The single player honestly was pretty bad, Dark Core was the only cool thing added imo. There were some really questionable item cuts (no cracker launcher??). Although there were a ton of stages, there were way too many where the stage basically fights the player, the game still had a pitiful selection of 'fair' stages despite all the ones there were (FD, Battlefield, Duck Hunt, Town n Titty, Smashville). They had to let fucking Lylat Cruise into the rotation since Duck Hunt was deemed to allow camping too easily. Speaking of camping, movement was still pretty fucking lame and some new mechanics added in Brawl like gliding were removed because they couldn't be assed to balance it (rip Shuttle Loop, sweet prince).

Like I can see myself occasionally going back to Brawl and messing around a bit, it has SSE and some pretty fun shit happening even if its busted. Smash 4 doesn't have personality I feel. It's very NSMB-y.

I just learned those fucking chads put Calling to the Night from Portable Ops in Brawl. Speaking of goosebumps. Holy fuck. I hope this returns in Ultimate, I could see Konami being stingy though.
