As some sort of left-leaning centrist, this is the worst I've ever seen it in my lifetime. It seems like objectivity and perspective are completely gone.

I would agree with you, but I actually think things are so bad and the two sides in this country have their own reality in such a way that they can't even agree on what qualifies as a common enemy.

It's the Hegelian Dialectic. Thesis, antithesis, synthesis. It's telling that the thesis usually comes from the media, not grass roots. We're being played against each other and it's mostly over non-issues.

as a conservative, i agree with you.

the divide and general animosity between the two ideologies has gotten way out of hand. the thing is conservative and liberal ideology have gotten so far apart from each other, there is virtually no common ground left except for the "find a common enemy" thing.

i too really suspect there is no coming back from this current divide.

Honestly, we need to demand that the media be held to a higher standard. A lot of the hyper partisan bullshit is a consequence of direct manipulation by mass media so they could get money through clicks.
