I'll explain it for you cutie.

One way to pronounce it is with a hard U at the beginning, like union-ized, as in a worker's union. That's what a plumber would be familiar with.

The other way is "un-ionized", as in lacking ions, something that is extremely important in some chemical reactions.

Both are spelled the exact same way.
