Are you just talking about this season? I hope so, because Season /Book 3 was fucking amazing in Korra

I also hear that Toph is awesome in this season, but I've only seen her once.

season 3 was amazing.

season 4 is also really good. not quite as good as season 3 but still really good.

if every season in Korra was as amazing as 3, Korra would've been an all-time greatest show tbqh

Yeah I also had watched the first 2 seasons years ago and then only finished it a few months ago. S3 is awesome, and s4 is pretty cool. The final episodes have some great action set pieces imo. I found the villains on the phone call in the recap episodes pretty funny. Also that episode was because Nick cut the budget.

'Korra Alone' actually helped me open my eyes towards my own long-term depression. Can't think of many shows that have touched me that deeply. And it really meant a lot that Korra had no easy fixes to her struggles, and her issues still persisted even after the viewer was led to believe they'd been healed - this is something that really bothered me with Aang in TLA. Finally, (season ending spoilers) I thought it was really important how Korra spared this universe's Hitler-equivalent: not simply because 'it was the right thing to do,' but because Korra actually empathized with her and understood the emotions that could drive Kuvira to such terrible ends.

The biggest flaw in Book 4 is Prince Wu. He's not a particularly bad character overall in and of himself, but it's a travesty that they burned up so much precious screentime on a new character when they already had a wealth of supporting characters who needed that screentime.

And yeah, the clip show's existence sucks, because Nickelodeon was treating the show like dogshit at the time. But bless the creators, they made a decent go of it: it's no 'Ember Island Players' by any stretch, but Varrick's embellished retelling and the villains' conference call was at least worth the price of admission.

Was Opal introduced in S3 or S4? She's my favorite when she's not being moody. The last few episodes of S4 are pretty awesome though. Kuvira makes a pretty good villain.

I liked Legend of Korra well enough, and seasons 3 and 4 are easily the best parts, but I felt like the show had a weaker main cast than The Last Airbender.

I mean, I never liked any of the characters as much as I liked Azula and the Aang Gang.

I think this is pretty inarguable, even for a diehard LoK lover like myself. It's one of the many ways LoK is Yang to TLA's Yin: TLA has a more well-rounded main cast, while LoK hinges much more narrowly on its titular protagonist's brawny shoulders.

As it turns out, if I was to rank the characters across both series, Korra would be at the top, but the only other LoK character to crack the top ten might be Tenzen or Lin, depending on my mood. On the other hand, I'd rank Aang 7th or 8th at best.

Honestly, Korra herself is probably the worst part about her own series.

I can agree on Aang being a relatively weaker character in his own series, but I don't think Korra would really crack my top 5. I'd put her well behind Zuko, Iroh, Azula, Katara, Toph, Tenzen, and maybe even Sokka. Korra might not even break my top ten.

Zuko, Iroh, and Azula are easily my top three favorite characters.

I realize Korra's a far more divisive character and her more abrasive personality initially puts certain people off. She's hotheaded, unwittingly selfish at times, and makes tons of mistakes. In an era where female leads are often idealized to the point of unrelatability, Korra is about as far from a Mary Sue as you can get. But I think that only serves to enhance the wealth of character growth she goes through. Not every character has to be immediately likable to be of quality; in fact, often it's the opposite case. Zuko, for instance, is almost unquestionably one of the top characters in the series. However, he's also an irritating and borderline-reprehensible character for the majority of his arc; but our brains perceive it as more acceptable because the story initially presents him as a villain.

At some points it's a tough call for me as to whether Korra or Zuko deserves the top honor, but Korra takes the win for me. My personal top ten would be (in order) Korra, Zuko, Iroh, Sokka, Katara, Azula, Toph, Aang, Tenzin, and I suppose Lin or maybe even Varrick. If I had more time I'd be happy to write out an explanation for each character, but putting that much work in kinda loses its luster when this board doesn't archive.

I don't know about Korra being less liked because she's abrasive, hot headed, and sometimes selfish female character. If that were the case, Toph wouldn't be such a popular character. Maybe Toph has a better balance of fun and humor instead of Korra's angst.

Zuko is my favorite. Probably because his character arc is particularly interesting.
