If they are a reasonable threat, you can use any means to stop them from hurting you, including lethal force. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should, tho. If there is another reasonable solution, I'd go with it. But, if they are obviously not going to stop, or threatneing your family? In this state you are within your rights to put them down. If they come into your home, and are punching you?
