Mixed race people chose to exclude themselves when they chose to identify as black instead of mixed race. Race is a social construct, and people are allowed to self identify, so its no one else fault.

Nah even without me saying anything I've always been considered black by white people. If I were to tell them I'm white they'd act like I'm crazy. The black half is just more noticeable to them. It goes both ways though I've had black people tell me I'm not really black or I dont count as black because I'm half white and was raised by my white mother.

it wouldn't be considered that, since genes come from both parents to form one baby. and for the record i think being born with curly hair is the worst fate of all.

yeah in South Africa they are a different category, "coloured", which is not the same as black. They get different amounts of affirmative action as they were treated differently during apartheid. Coloureds had more privileges.

Yes, I am aware there are some exceptions, but they're few and far between, and usually owe it to mixing with white.

I'm mixed and no one can tell I'm part Japanese until I tell them and then they're like "ooooh yeah I can see it".

DNA shows how arbitrary race really is. We focus on a few insignificant superficial differences and classify people that way but if you look at overall DNA differences they do not correlate with race at all.

This is true. One thing a lot of people don't realize is that other races may have what are thought of as Caucasian features but you can't see it because they also have dark features. For example east Asian hair is black but also has red pigment mixed in. When they bleach their hair the red is harder to bleach out do they will be left with a reddish tint.

It depends, we're acknowledged as being mixed but we're part of the black in-group, especially since whites typically outright reject us as one of their own

With hair, it's not so much one being recessive as much as that if your hair has both red and black pigments, it just looks black. Just like if you took red ink and colored over it with black, it would just look black.

For example east Asians generally have red in their hair but it also has dark black so you can't see it. But if they bleach it, it will turn reddish orange. They have to bleach a lot to get it to blonde.
