All of the money from the stand was going to charity. The boys were planning on donating all of their proceeds to Compassion International.

We here are very fortunate and we forget that many kids in the world are not as fortunate as we are in Colorado or in the country, and so I wanted to teach them how to donate money to a charity, Knowles said.

Why does there seem to be so much of this going around recently?

Like this one isn't even a racial thing, which is refreshing, but why do these fucking people seem to think it's their business to call the cops on some god damn kids

What you guys need to understand is that you have to make sure is what they're selling is healthy, that's why this is against the law. I find it bull shit too, but I would also find it terrible if people got sick from drinking or eating contaminated food/drinks made by a kid.

As a kid I lived near a pretty busy race track and State Fair, so my friends and I would always have lemonade and gatorade stands. We got shut down 95% of the time, though.

The world hates lemonade stands : /

Easier to deal with this story than the potential "police fail to intervene in serial poisoning scheme" one, I suppose.

Yes and I do understand that, but the assumption should be that parental guidance is supervising the creation process. Yes, it would be a different story if two five year olds decided to try making lemonade with bleach instead of water.

which is understandable but a lot of times when he see cases like this that are filmed, the person calling the cops just seems so unpleasant and upset about it. if they were truly concerned for public safety i'm sure a more civil discussion could take place.

And like the case of the little girl selling water...she's selling sealed water bottles..and even in that case the person is claiming to have acted how she acted out of frustration not for public safety.

Don't worry guys, if they get their proper permits that means the state has decided they are suited to serve food that won't kill you.

Being a parent doesn't automatically imply proper cleanliness and food handling. Restaurants are also staffed by parents and they need permits as well.

I agree

I just want people to know why it's against the law for kids to have lemonade stands without a permit, and that there is a good reason for it.

Adults need these permits too, presumably.

Idk man. I mean I get it but fucking come on. Isn't entrepreneurship something we want to cultivate in our kids? And children's lemonade stands are pretty fucking quintessentially American. Just let it ride. Idk my two cents.

Same reason it's against the law to open a restaurant without a permit which is that the state doesn't really care about public safety but instead they aren't collecting taxes from them.

Bad comparison. There's a difference between mixing powdered lemonade with water vs. running a restaurant.

There's no cleanliness involved with water, pitchers, cups, stirring implements, sugar containers, or lemons? All you're doing is demonstrating exactly why those kids and their parents need to get a permit. Being an adult isn't a qualification.
