I don't think there's a single long running franchise that has done callbacks to previous games as good as Kirby. Every single main game, even spin offs get referenced repeatedly in new games, nothing is ever forgotten.

I honestly feel this series needs an update. Not only could modern tech allow for a way, way cooler experience with more fighters and stuff, but they could also allow for some customization like custom leagues, custom boxers, and all that other stuff they could just steal from the WWE games. It needs to be a direct sequel to Super Punch-Out, though. No gimmicks or anything like that.

They should make a Kirby Pinball with a 3d perspective and make it so you have to copy enemy abilities to blast through obstacles on your way to completing certain objectives that also take some coordination too....like maybe a mix between pinball and super monkey ball with powers.

I honestly haven't played many Kirby games (because they're kids games), but afaik, they're short, cute, and easy. Zelda was pretty lengthy. I sort of consider length as an adult quality because kids might have less patience. Getting 100% in the last few Mario games takes a pretty good amount of skill...Smash Bros has a big skill gap. Need I say more?

I would like to see a new punch out as someone here stated or VC... but a lot of people like that pink little marshmallow. So they should keep doing what makes people happy.

I mean, being easy is kind of the point of Kirby. It's meant to be an entry-level game that new players can succeed in. When I first started video games, all I had access to was Super Mario Land, Metroid II, and Battletoads, all of which were too hard for me, but Kirby's Dream Land was my jam.

I do think Star Allies was a bit too easy, though, even for Kirby. I really loved how Kirby: Planet Robobot had an accessible story mode, but there was challenge in the way of True Arena if you wanted it.

Well, you do realize sakurai basically styled smash bros. gameplay from kirby gameplay right?

Also, you clearly haven't finished the recent kirby games because beating the true arena and getting platinum medals on the challenges is harder than 100%ing Mario or Zelda. True Arena with the low tier abilties can get to Cuphead Expert tier as someone who's S ranked Cuphead.

Why would they need to refocus their efforts elsewhere? Last I checked they were one of the biggest powerhouse developers in the world, I'm pretty sure they can work on more than one project at a time.
