The thing is Nintendo isn't any cheaper. For the customers at least. Nintendo makes indie games and charges AAA prices.

Nintendo put out some of the most critically acclaimed games ever made just last year. What is this topic?

This is also important to bring up:

Nintendo is a household name and has more beloved franchises under their belts than any other company. I think most sane people would agree with this, no?

Their model for selling their franchises is:

1) Maybe we'll put out a new one this year. It'll be safe and familiar, people will eat it up.

2) We will put out a very small selection of classic games on our godawful store. We wont even begin to compete with piracy, there'll be zero benefit, just overpay us for these games that will only work on the console you bought them on, thanks.

3) We'll release a retro console. It'll be a great idea, pretty bare bones though. Only come with 30 games and you'll never be able to buy one because we'll only manufacture 3 units for the entire world.

Nintendo is literally sitting on a MOTHERFUCKING GOLD MINE, and they show time and time again they absolutely have no idea what they're doing. How many companies would give their left nut to be at the helm and have all that potential revenue at your disposal.

Total pipe dream, but I just imagine what a company like Valve/steam could do with access to the Nintendo library as an example. It really is a shame fans have to put up with this level of incompetence...put up with isn't even right, people celebrate this shit.

This. It's the only reason I buy Nintendo consoles. It's the only reason I buy consoles period. I also don't play online very much (which is why I don't like that it's becoming paid) so them being "behind" on online capabilities...doesn't bother me too much.

This, too. Games that just focus on the gameplay and don't really have a deep story should exist and Nintendo fills that. They're not inherently inferior. They don't need to be following other game developers like that.

Whenever they try to go for more cinematics and more story though, yes I do wish they would upgrade their standards. It bugged me for the longest time that Zelda never got voice acting even though the story-telling and cinematics became more and more like other modern games, and wouldn't you know it they finally put in voice acting on a Zelda game with the least amount of story since the NES/SNES days.

No. I call interactive movies interactive movies. And I love them, mind you. Thats just kinda what they are.

Bloodborne for a counter example is a beautiful PS4 exclusive and thats not an interactive movie.

Pretty much every 3d mario post sunshine, LoZ wind waker, ALBW, almost every kirby game, and if you include gamefreak, most mainline pokemon games too (not a fan of gen 6's style though)

The point is that the company behind it is cheap, thus everything in the company is done conservatively and with the least amount of money possible with as much reuse of old resources and underpowered hardware. The Switch being one of the first excusable in that respect since the GC because there was nothing more than the X1 even available.

Things like outdated online, charging to backup saves, having shortages for every thing so fans can't even buy your shit, not including a charger in a $200 system (which no other company does), shitty account system with an unsophisticated infastructure, fighting YouTubers when other companies are way more lenient, etc etc.

Are you confusing quality with fun? Because TC has addressed that. They're fun, sure. But like TC has already laid out, just because they concentrate on it only being fun doesn't mean it doesn't lack in things like good stories, voice acting, or graphical effort. And a good explanation of why these things are lacking is because Nintendo is a historically conservative company.
