I just don't like the whole training, battling, and trading aspect of the franchise. I'm trying not to "vaguebook", but that's how I feel. In other words, I don't really feel fully immersed in the experience when I play as a "Pokemon Trainer" in the main games.

I know what you mean. Pokemon really wastes its cool monster designs by just having them sit around or fight each other. I wish that instead of an RPG where you find Pokemon running around in the woods and kidnap them, the Pokemon games were more like dating simulators where you had to build a relationship with a Pokemon before it would join your party. I want to get to know the Pokemon personally, and over a natural span of time, develop that relationship in to something special.

Also, I don't like the concept of owning Pokemon, as it feels too much like slavery. I feel like a Pokemon should only be "yours" in the sense that it is your friend, or something stronger yet equally benevolent. I think that even if a Pokemon is in your party, it should have the option of spending some time away from you to work on other things. I'd like to see a Pokemon game where the Pokemon would autonomously pursue hobbies and seek entertainment. Maybe you'd run in to your Pokemon at the carnival, and you wouldn't have to make a big deal about it because you're comfortable enough with each other that you don't have to make a big gesture out of a simple chance encounter.

Maybe, irrespective of your own efforts and wishes, the Pokemon would seek companionship elsewhere. Perhaps when you ran in to that Pokemon at the carnival, they were walking alongside a fit, handsome Lucario. You'd acknowledge him and smile, knowing that your Pokemon would be in good hands, if hands were involved. You'd like to think that hands were involved, at least. A saucy thought maybe crossed your mind, and you outright asked your Pokemon to demonstrate how that would work. She might nod her head, her adorable Lopunny ears flopping gaily.

Perhaps you snuck in to your bedroom closet. Lopunny and that Lucario could then ostensibly enter the bedroom, pretending not to notice you. You could see that, as you had hoped, hands were involved. Many more body parts were also involved. You'd be involved, but only your name, and only, by your design, in an emasculating sense. You could feel your toxic masculinity wash away as you experience the ultimate sex-positive absolution from your manhood.
