Sure, it expands upon the first movie, but it lacks everything that made the first movie good. The cinematography is great, the score is great, but... it feels empty. There's no soul to this movie, and it shows.

I get that these films are based on books and take liberties as such, but damn. The original stood out as a masterpiece of contemporary film, and this just feels like lukewarm followup trying to cash in on the success of the original.

Perhaps the full story was best left as literature
